Three bank accounts reconciled to their statements, every report built from the same ledger, and a month that closes even.Illustrative figures.
$0.00
is the only difference a reconciliation is allowed to end on. Amounts are kept in whole cents, so there’s no rounding drift to explain away.
One login
for every set of books you keep — each business, each rental, and the household, each with its own chart of accounts.
30 days
of the whole product, free, with no card. Long enough to set up real books and run a real month through them.
What Due North does
A proper set of books, without the platform around it.
Most small businesses and households don't need a suite. They need a ledger that stays correct, reports that agree with each other, and a month that closes.
Every entity in one login
Each business gets its own set of books with its own chart of accounts. Switch between them without signing out.
Household books too
The same ledger handles personal finances, so the family accounts get kept properly instead of in a spreadsheet.
Always in balance
Both sides of every entry have to match before it can be saved. Your books can’t quietly drift out of balance between now and April.
Reports that tie out
P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, general ledger and P&L by class — all built from the same ledger, so they can’t disagree with each other.
Reconcile to the cent
Bring in a statement from your bank, let the obvious matches settle themselves, review what’s left, and close the month when it comes out even.
Nothing quietly changes
Corrections void the original entry instead of erasing it, every change is logged with who made it, and closed months stay closed.
Your accountant can look in
Invite them to a read-only role: they see every report and register and can export what they need, without being able to change a number.
Entry that fits in a pocket
Install it to your home screen and log an expense at the counter in about ten seconds.
Bring your existing books
Coming from QuickBooks or Quicken? Your real transaction history comes with you, checked against your old reports before it’s saved.
Your data
Your books export whenever you want them.
Every report downloads as a CSV, and the general ledger comes out in full. It's ordinary tabular data — open it in a spreadsheet, send it to your accountant, or take it somewhere else entirely.
- Full general-ledger and trial-balance exports, any date range
- P&L, balance sheet, trial balance and P&L by class — all downloadable as CSV
- If you cancel, your books switch to read-only so you can still export them
- Your accountant can pull what they need without your password
Questions
The things people ask first
- Who is Due North for?
- People who keep the books for more than one thing — a business or two, a rental, a side project, the household — and want them all kept properly in one place instead of spread across spreadsheets and separate logins.
- Do I need to know accounting to use it?
- No. You record what happened — money in, money out, a transfer, an invoice — and the ledger keeps both sides straight underneath. The double-entry part matters because it's what makes the reports trustworthy, not because you have to think about it.
- Is this cash basis or accrual?
- Cash basis today. Accrual reporting is on the roadmap, not in the product yet.
- Can my accountant get in?
- Yes. Invite them to a read-only role and they can see every report and register and export whatever they need, without being able to change a number. No shared passwords, no emailing backup files around.
- Can I bring books over from QuickBooks or Quicken?
- Yes, with your full transaction history rather than just opening balances. Before anything is saved, Due North rebuilds your reports from the imported data and compares them to the reports from your old software — it only calls the import done when the figures match to the cent.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Your books switch to read-only. You can still sign in, look at everything and export it — you just can't add or change entries until you subscribe again.
- Does it connect to my bank automatically?
- Not yet. Today you download a statement from your bank — CSV, OFX or QFX, all of them work — and Due North matches it against what you've entered, sets aside anything it isn't sure about, and reconciles to the exact cent. Direct bank connections are next on the roadmap.
